防府市牟礼の入るのにとっても勇気がいったお店。道沿いに取り残されたようにぽつんと建った古びたビルに無理な和風を装ってしかも名前が「古都」。20年前の遺物とも言うべきたたずまいだ。そんな時代外れの外観のために、私はその存在を知りながらもずっと入ったことがなかった。
メニューはお好み焼きレストランと名乗るだけのことはあり、お好み焼きはもちろんのこと各種定食や一品料理もある。今回は小手調べに野菜炒め定食680円（税別）に挑戦した。ちなみに野菜炒め定食で680円という値段は私にとって"upper limit"だ。出てきた定食は、野菜炒め、酢の物、茶碗蒸し、野菜煮物、ご飯、味噌汁、漬物のなんと７品！特にアツアツの茶碗蒸しは嬉しい誤算。野菜炒めだって、ゲソやキクラゲが入ってて一味違ったものだった。これなら680円は安いくらいだ。店の外観からはこんなまともな料理が食べれるとは思いもよらなかった（私の修行不足だ！いや期待しなかったから余計においしかったのか？）。これなら結構お客が多いのも納得できる。次はお好み焼きにも挑戦したい。
